Known Gang Member Arrested After Firing Gun into Vehicle with Three Children

Shooting Suspect Arrested
On Friday, October 22nd, 2021, Fresno Police Department’s Felony Assault Unit (FAU) detectives and members of the Gang Suppression Team (GST) arrested Jose Leal for a shooting that occurred on September 26, 2021, in the area of West Gettysburg Avenue and North Polk Avenue.
The investigation revealed Jose Leal fired into a vehicle while three children, ranging in ages from one to five years old, and their father occupied the vehicle. The vehicle was struck one time. Luckily, none of the occupants were injured. While serving search warrants associated with the investigation, detectives located further evidence connecting Leal to the shooting.
Leal is a known gang member and was arrested for multiple felony charges related to the shooting. Leal was booked into Fresno County Jail.
