Two men arrested in connection to alleged domestic violence, gun discharge incidents

Two Humboldt County men were recently arrested in connection to an alleged domestic violence incident.
Around 10 pm on Halloween night, deputies responded to an area hospital following a report that an adult woman had just been admitted with injuries to her face as a result of domestic violence.
Deputies then met with two men associated with the victim outside the hospital — identified as 52-year-old Robert Daniel McKenzie-Michael and 51-year-old Eric Daniel Culbertson — and soon realized McKenzie-Michael was the one suspected of causing the woman’s injuries. He was arrested on the spot.
Amid the investigation, deputies learned of another incident at the two men’s homes involving the alleged negligent discharge of a firearm, resulting in Culbertson taking possession of the firearm. Culbertson, who is a convicted felon, is legally prohibited from possessing firearms. These new developments prompted the Sheriff’s Office to secure a search warrant.
During the search of McKenzie-Michael’s residence, deputies reportedly found evidence relating to both alleged incidents, as well as cash, ammo, and over an ounce of processed marijuana believed to have been harvested from an illegal grow operation.
At Culbertson’s residence, deputies found four firearms, three without serial numbers, as well as ammo, cash, over 350 pounds of butane hash oil, about 126 pounds of cannabis bud, and thirty-four pounds of shake, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Both men were booked on weapons charges, with additional charges for McKenzie-Michael related to the alleged domestic violence incident.
