Kings County vehicle pursuit suspect reportedly abandons vehicle, later tries to report it stolen

A vehicle pursuit suspect was recently arrested in Kings County after abandoning the vehicle and later attempting to report it stolen, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Just after 12 AM on Wednesday, December 1, a deputy reportedly witnessed the driver of a black Kia Forte drive through the intersection near Houston and 14th Avenues at around 50 MPH without heeding the stop sign.

The deputy pursued the driver — later identified as 26-year-old Aaron Faubion — all the way to Jersey Avenue near Santa Rosa Rancheria, where Faubion stopped and abandoned the vehicle on foot, and briefly eluded capture by scaling a six-foot cement fence and disappearing into the Rancheria. A passenger who had been in the car with Faubion had demanded that he stop the car, but Faubion refused, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The next day, however, Faubion reportedly showed up to the Sheriff’s Office to report his vehicle “stolen.”

Having already identified him as the suspect driver, deputies arrested him on the spot and booked him on suspicion of evading a peace officer, resisting arrest, and kidnapping, among other charges. His bail was set at $245,000, the Sheriff’s Office said.
