Solano County man arrested for alleged reckless driving, leading deputies on pursuit

“The driver who led law enforcement officers from multiple jurisdictions on an hour-long chase has been arrested. Just before 5 a.m., a Solano County Sheriff’s deputy tried to make a traffic stop on a vehicle that was being driven erratically, an exhibition of speed, and a mechanical violation, in the unincorporated area of Vacaville, at Willow and Kilkenny Roads. The driver refused to pull over, starting a pursuit.
Additional deputies joined the pursuit as it traveled through unincorporated county roads, the City of Dixon, I-80, Yolo County, and the City of Davis. During that time, the driver committed numerous vehicle code violations.
Attempts to end the pursuit by blocking the suspect’s vehicle were unsuccessful. The Solano County Sheriff’s Office turned the pursuit over to the California Highway Patrol in the area of I-80 and Highway 50. The suspect was later taken into custody by the CHP and El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office deputies in the area of Highway 50 and Camino. The suspect, 52-year-old Matthew Ramos of Dixon, is now in the custody of the Solano County Sheriff’s Office, booked under charges related to evading and reckless driving.
The Solano County Sheriff’s Office involvement in the chase lasted more than an hour and was approximately 45 miles in the distance traveled. During that time, no Solano County Sheriff’s Office deputies were injured, there were no vehicle accidents. Some road signs were damaged by the suspect vehicle during the pursuit.”
