Loaded gun found on gang members
Two Paso Robles men are in custody after San Luis Obispo Sheriff’s Deputies discovered a .22 caliber revolver and ammunition during a traffic stop.
According to the sheriff’s department, deputies stopped a GMC pickup truck for traffic violations at the corner of South River Road and Niblick Road. During a search of the pickup, deputies discovered the .22 caliber revolver and ammunition.
Deputies say the passenger in the truck, Dustin Angel Fernandez, 20, of Paso Robles was arrested and charged with possession of a loaded firearm in public along with a street gang enhancement. Deputies say the driver of the truck, Lauro Robert Valenzuela, 27, also of Paso Robles was arrested and charged with a probation violation.
According to the sheriff’s department, both suspects are known Norteno gang members living in the city of Paso Robles. Investigators say a search warrant was obtained and served at the residence of Fernandez where the Gang Task Force located a 12-gauge shotgun thought to belong to Fernandez.
Both suspects were booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail.
