“Lake County Sheriff’s Office has been and will continue to take the opioid epidemic very seriously by aggressively investigating and seeking the prosecution of those who attempt to traffic Fentanyl and other illegal substances in our community.
On November 26th, 2021, a Lake County Sheriff Deputy conducted a traffic stop on Highway 29; the driver was identified as Craig Lent, 33, of Lakeport. After the deputy searched the vehicle, Lent was found to be in possession of fentanyl, heroin, methamphetamine, and LSD with the tools and ability to sell/traffic the seized narcotics.
On January 10th, 2022, Lent was stopped for traffic-related infractions in North Lakeport and was arrested on charges of felon in possession of firearms and driving under the influence. Deputies served several search warrants the following day, January 11th, 2022. Those search warrants resulted in the seizure of firearms and fentanyl. Lent is still currently being held at the Lake County Correctional Facility.
Overall, more than 60 grams of fentanyl were seized between the first traffic stop and the search warrants, along with sizable amounts of heroin, methamphetamine, and multiple firearms. As this investigation is still ongoing, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office will be pressing forward and taking proactive steps to curb the opioid crisis in our county. We will continue to do what we lawfully can to prevent this deadly drug from entering our community.”
