Santa Rita Jail Inmate Charged with Murder is Arrested for Yet Another Murder
DUBLIN — A Santa Rita Jail inmate incarcerated for an unresolved murder case has been arrested for yet another murder. The same suspect has several prior arrests and a criminal history dating back to 1997.
The suspect is 44-year-old Gregory F. Ignacio from Stockton. Ignacio allegedly participated in two home invasion robberies and murders in Oakland two years ago.
Two persons were shot during a home invasion on September 28, 2020. One of the victims, a 29-year-old man, died at the scene on the 1700 block of Church Street in Oakland.
For his alleged role in these September 28 shootings, Ignacio was arrested on October 23, 2020. He remains behind county bars ineligible for release on bond, while this criminal case remains active.
Ignacio was recently identified as a suspect in another fatal shooting. This second murder occurred during a home invasion robbery on September 30, 2020.
In this case, a 36-year-old man was fatally shot inside a residence on the 2400 block of International Boulevard. His body was found dumped in West Oakland on Wood Street.
It is for this second murder that Ignacio was arrested for inside the jail on February 22. Ignacio was booked for murder, carrying a loaded firearm, possession of ammunition, and addict in possession of a firearm.
Ignacio has previous arrests for firearm possession, possession of cocaine base for sale, and several DUIs. He has prior convictions for carrying a loaded firearm and a DUI causing injury.
Ignacio’s problems with the law date back to 1997 for felony murder, when he was a teenager.
