“On Monday, March 14, 2022, it was reported to the Trinity County Sheriff’s Office that a subject, walking near State Route 299 in the Douglas City area, had potentially been stabbed.
The individual was located and it was learned that they had not been stabbed, but had been assaulted. The laceration which appeared to have been a stab wound, was caused by this individual breaking and jumping out of a window in order to flee during the assault.
Deputies located and processed the scene. The alleged suspects remain outstanding and reports indicate that they fled the area in a vehicle.
This matter remains under investigation. The Sheriff’s Office wanted to explain the large law enforcement presence in the Douglas City area, this appears to be an isolated incident and the Sheriff’s Office does not believe that it presents a current threat to public safety.
