“On May 5, 2022 at 2:05 PM Redding Police Officer Rouland and his K-9 partner were flagged down by a City of Redding employee who observed a vehicle driving on the lawn near the softball fields on Parkview. Officer Rouland contacted John Dvorak, 38-years-old, of Redding.
Dvorak was the sole occupant of a white 2014 Dodge Charger and it was apparent he was under the influence of alcohol. Dvorak fled from Officer Rouland, who briefly pursued, but cancelled for public safety. Dvorak drove recklessly down California Street, going the wrong direction, and was involved in a collision on Placer Street. Dvorak fled the crash scene and drove into the Magnolia subdivision. Redding police searched the area with assistance from CHP Air Operations.
Dvorak was located and fled in his vehicle again. By this time, the hazardous nature of Dvorak’s ongoing reckless driving justified the use of K-9 Chase, who leapt through the passenger window of the Charger and successfully apprehended Dvorak, who was immediately arrested. Dvorak was medically cleared at Shasta Regional Medical Center and then booked into the Shasta County Jail for the following offenses: felony Evading, misdemeanor Driving Under the Influence, misdemeanor Hit and Run Collision, misdemeanor Reckless Driving, and misdemeanor Resisting, Obstructing, Delaying an Officer.”
