Reckless firearm use leads to discovery of nearly 3 pounds of meth in hotel room: Report
A report of shots fired in Sonoma County has reportedly led to the arrests of four people on various charges, including weapon and narcotics charges.
Deputies responded to the area of Mecham and Pepper Roads in Petaluma just before 5 PM Monday, May 30, after being alerted to the sound of gunshots coming from a car. Less than an hour later, a Rohnert Park police officer found the car in an unincorporated area of Santa Rosa and detained all five occupants.
After the occupants stepped out of the car, deputies searched it and reportedly found a ghost gun and a high-capacity magazine containing rounds of 9mm ammunition.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, three of the five occupants were on some form of parole, and at least two of them were affiliated with a hotel room nearby, where deputies ended up finding about three pounds of methamphetamine packaged for sale.
Four of the five occupants were arrested on various charges, and are identified as —
25-year-old Juan Carlos Gomez of Santa Rosa, arrested on suspicion of being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm, discharging a firearm in a negligent manner, parole violation, and other charges.
24-year-old Luis Fernando Cuevas of Santa Rosa, arrested on suspicion of being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm, discharging a firearm in a negligent manner, parole violation, and more.
27-year-old Cristian Zaragoza Bahena of Sebastopol, arrested on suspicion of being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm, conspiracy, parole violation, and more.
27-year-old Cristina Ysabella Murillo Moreno of Santa Rosa, arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm not by a registered owner and conspiracy.
The fifth occupant was released and is not facing any charges, the Sheriff’s Office said.
