“Redding Police Detectives initiated a child molestation investigation in April of 2022. The victim, who was age three at the time of the incident, reported sexual abuse by their mother’s boyfriend. During the investigation, 29-year-old Kenneth A. Eerkes of Redding was identified as the suspect.
Over the course of the investigation, detectives interviewed Eerkes and he admitted to the allegation. Eerkes is also the named suspect in multiple other child molestation cases out of state. On July 15, 2022, a Shasta County Superior Court Judge issued an arrest warrant for Eerkes, charging him with lewd and lascivious acts with a child under the age of fourteen.
On July 20, 2022, detectives located Eerkes who was hiding in the garage of the victim’s mother’s residence. Eerkes was ultimately placed under arrest for the outstanding warrant. The mother, Amanda Coleman, was placed under arrest for harboring a fugitive. Coleman’s children were removed from her custody in January of 2022 for their safety and will remain in protective custody.”
