Five-Hour Standoff in Hemet Ends With Arrests
HEMET – Police chased down multiple suspects in a home invasion robbery, surrounding a mobile home park and eventually came away with several arrests on Wednesday morning after a five-hour standoff.

At least one man was arrested at the Town and Country Mobile Home Park on State St. and Menlo Ave. Sheriff’s deputies and Hemet police had shut down several blocks along Menlo Ave., evacuating between 20 and 30 residents of the mobile home park. SWAT team reinforcements, which included an armored car, helicopter, police dog, and a robot, were used to enter a mobile home in the park. All were used in search of remaining suspects.
It began shortly before 10 a.m. Police said suspects had tied a man up inside his home in the 700 block of Cawston Avenue in neighboring San Jacinto. Sheriff’s officials said he was robbed of weapons and his pickup truck. The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.
Witnesses told police the suspects ran away in various directions. When police surrounded the mobile homes, one male suspect surrendered. Police, worried about stray bullets possibly being fired by the undetermined number of suspects, were forced to shut down nearby streets and evacuate people in the park.

A possible suspect was seen running from the Cawston Ave. area, site of the home invasion, which caused police to expand its perimeter to another street nearby.
Sheriff’s officials reported no injuries between the time of the original report up until 4 p.m., when streets were reopened and residents allowed back into their mobile home park.
Several others in the area were also arrested, though police have yet to identify exactly how many. There are possibly other suspects at large, said sheriff’s officials.
