Kings County man arrested on various charges after reckless, high-speed pursuit

A Kings County man was recently arrested on various charges after leading deputies and CHP officers on a pursuit, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
40-year-old Daniel Garcia was arrested on the night of Wednesday, July 27, after leading authorities on a pursuit through Kings County. A lone CHP officer had been chasing Garcia along Highway 43 near Jackson Avenue after the vehicle he was driving — a silver Jeep — had allegedly been involved in a shooting in Lemoore earlier that day, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies joined the pursuit and reportedly chased Garcia for about half an hour through unincorporated areas of Kings County, noting that, at one point, Garcia threw several items out the window near Kit Carson Elementary School.
The pursuit ultimately ended when, after driving through stop signs and traffic lights, Garcia collided with a CHP patrol vehicle at 12th Avenue just north of Grangeville. He was then taken into custody and turned over to Lemoore PD, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Authorities then returned to the area near Kit Carson Elementary and combed the area, reportedly finding a silver .380 handgun, a sawed-off shotgun, and several .410 caliber shotgun shells.
Garcia was booked at the Kings County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder, felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, and evading a peace officer with wanton disregard for public safety, among other charges.
