Man arrested following deputy-involved shooting in Madera County

“The Madera County Sheriff’s Office is currently cooperating with an investigation into the circumstances surrounding an officer involved shooting incident involving a Madera County Sheriff’s Deputy.
On Friday, August 12, 2022, at approximately 10:45 pm, a deputy notified dispatch he was contacting a person with a bat in the area of Krohn and Ellis Streets in Madera. Shortly thereafter, he requested an ambulance and notified dispatch that he had discharged his firearm, striking the subject. The deputy immediately provided medical aid until relieved by medics. The male was transported via ground ambulance to a local hospital where he is in stable condition.
The subject in this case has been identified as as Timothy John Bray Jr. 46 of Madera. He will be facing felony charges of resisting arrest and assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer.
This is an ongoing investigation, thus the level of details that can be provided at this point are somewhat limited. Our highest priority is providing factually accurate information while maintaining the integrity of the investigation. While facts are being gathered, interviews conducted, and additional witnesses sought, it would be irresponsible to undermine the Madera Police Department’s investigation of this incident by releasing specific details.
