Calaveras County deputy sheriff arrested for alleged unlawful gun possession
A Calaveras County deputy sheriff was recently arrested for the alleged possession of weapons by an addict, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
33-year-old Timothy Ball, who reportedly has a history of alcohol and opiate abuse and had been to rehab multiple times, was taken into custody in late July after receiving a Suspected Child Abuse Report (SCAR) of active drug abuse by a parent. Detectives served a search warrant at Ball’s home on Thursday, July 28, and also reportedly confiscated several firearms.
Prior to his arrest, investigators also spoke with Ball at the Sheriff’s Office, during which they noticed further signs that Ball had relapsed into addiction.
Ball was ultimately arrested on suspicion of being an addict in possession of firearms. The Sheriff’s Office has placed him on administrative leave pending the outcome of criminal and internal investigations.
