August 20, 2022 – Santa Barbara County, Ca. Today’s oft-repeated mantra on the national political stage that “no one is above the law” may not strictly apply in the case of 60-year-old Buellton resident Bradley Prows.

According to California Highway Patrol spokesman Officer Michael Griffith, Prows—who retired from the CHP “after more than 29 years and achieving the rank of sergeant” as a 2015 recipient
of an award for valorous actions taken during the 2014 Isla Vista mass murders—currently works for UCSB with the rank of lieutenant.

His heroic past and current law enforcement ranking notwithstanding, Prows was arrested on the evening of August 7th pursuant to a side-swipe collision at approximately 7:00 p.m. on a
major thoroughfare in the City of Solvang. Prows was reportedly attempting to pass a Honda minivan as it slowed to pull into a curbside parking space. As Prows’ pickup truck struck the
driver’s side of the minivan, Prows “continued driving” down the highway with the minivan driver now in pursuit “attempting to flag him down.”

More than a mile distant, Prows yielded to the entreaties of the minivan driver, “pulled to the right shoulder and stopped.” Within minutes, Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department patrol
units were on the scene. Upon contact with Prows, it was determined that he was “under the influence of an alcoholic beverage.”

As there were no injuries involved, Prows was cited and according to Griffith, was released “due to the distance to any jail facilities and staffing issues.”
