Suspects Arrested for Alleged Possession of Drugs and a Firearm

“On August 24, 2022 at approximately 11:56 p.m., motorist Salvador Silva was stopped for a traffic violation in the area of Olive Avenue and Newcomb Street by a Porterville Police Officer. During the stop, a male juvenile passenger was also contacted.
Upon contact with the occupants of the vehicle, they were determined to be under the influence of a controlled substance. During a search of the vehicle, a concealed loaded handgun was located within the passenger compartment. Both suspects were taken into custody.
As a result of the investigation, both suspects were taken into custody on charges of possession of a firearm while under the influence of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a firearm. Salvador Silva was determined to have a felony conviction and he was additionally charged with felon in possession of a firearm and felon in possession of ammunition.
Salvador Silva was booked into the Tulare County Jail and the juvenile was booked into the Tulare County Juvenile Hall.”
