An Anaheim woman was arrested for the fatal hit and run of a male bicyclist in Newport Beach.
Adriana Bernal, 36, was arrested without incident a brief time after the collision. She faces both murder and hit and run charges.
The fatal incident took place at nearly 8:30 AM on Sunday, September 11th, near Jamboree Road and University Drive. After receiving a 911 call about the collision, “Newport Beach police officers arrived on scene and located citizens attempting to render aid to the adult male bicyclist,” according to the release. “Despite their lifesaving efforts, the bicyclist was pronounced deceased on scene by the Newport Beach Fire Department.”
Police found Bernal and the vehicle involved in the collision in the Eastbluff neighborhood, located about a mile away.
