Guitar Teacher Held for $2,225,000 Bond on Child Molestation Charges

SAN RAMON — A San Francisco Bay Area guitar teacher is in custody in lieu of $2,225,000 bond for allegedly molesting children. His company Guitar Confidence Inc. offers private in-home guitar lessons in Alameda, Contra Costa, San Mateo, Santa Clara, and Solano counties.
Allegations against Rex Lee Bell, 69 of Vallejo, stem from information received by the San Ramon Police patrol division. On September 29, information was received concerning a man who committed lewd and lascivious acts during a child’s guitar lesson.
The information was referred to the police investigations division. Detectives worked throughout the day to gather evidence associated with the suspect. A Ramey Warrant was obtained.
On the afternoon of September 29, San Ramon police detectives arrested Bell at his home at 4:03 p.m. Bell was booked at the Martinez Detention Facility, before being transferred to the West County Detention Facility in Richmond.
Following his arrest, a search warrant was executed at his Vallejo residence, where more evidence was found.
Bell faces multiple charges including:
Nine counts of PC 288(A) Lewd and lascivious acts with a child under the age of 14
Nine counts of PC 667.6(B) Enhancement for prior sex convictions
Two counts of PC 290.95 Sexual Offender Violation
Bell is a registered sex offender. He was previously convicted for committing lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14 years of age.
