DISCOVERY BAY — Michael Henri Gattas-Goutierez, 40, a resident of Discovery Bay, was arrested for his third time this year. The suspect stands accused of committing multiple burglaries and he is being held in custody in lieu of $560,000 bond.
Gattas-Goutierez allegedly committed burglaries at the Harbor Bay Condominium community. Residents have been plagued by burglaries for years.
There was frustratingly little evidence of the identity of the perpetrator of these crimes. Investigators got a boost in the case when the suspect was recorded in the act by a resident’s security camera. Video was shared on social media, which ultimately implicated Gattas- Goutierez.
On October 19, Gattas-Goutierez was away from home when deputies served a search warrant at his residence. Deputies found and recovered stolen property from inside his home at 5824 Yawl Street.
Later the same day, Gattas-Goutierez was arrested a few miles away during a traffic stop conducted by Oakley police. He was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility. Seventeen charges were filed against him October 21. He faces multiple charges for first- and second- degree burglary, grand theft, and receiving stolen property.
The suspect is no stranger to law enforcement. In March, the same suspect was arrested on suspicion of grand theft and receiving stolen property. Before that he was arrested in January for possession of a controlled substance and identity theft.
