Riverside County Man Accused of Murdering Ex-Fiancé

RIVERSIDE — On Monday, November 1, Riverside police were dispatched to the 11000 block of Trailrun Court for a wellness check.

The subject in question’s son told police that his mother had been having problems with her ex-fiancé and had no communication with anyone that day.

Responding officers discovered the woman to be deceased from what appeared to be a gunshot wound. The victim was later identified as 57-year-old Pankaja Venugopal of Riverside.

Detectives with the Robbery and Homicide Unit, as well as specialists from the Forensics Unit, responded to the scene.

Detectives  soon identified the victim’s ex-fiancé as Paul Buckner Jacobs Jr., (60) of Compton as the primary suspect.

With the assistance of the Gang Unit, Jacobs Jr. was located in Jurupa Valley.

He was taken into custody and is now at the Robert Presley Detention Center on suspicion of murder. His bail has been set at $1 million.
