Brooklyn Man Charged in Alleged Killing and Dismemberment of Ex-Girlfriend
BROOKLYN, New York — The Kings County District Attorney’s Office has announced an indictment against the man accused of killing and dismembering his ex-girlfriend at her apartment.
24-year-old Justin Williams of Manhattan was identified as the primary suspect in the murder of his ex-girlfriend, D’Asia Johnson, earlier this year.
Investigators believe that Williams killed Johnson, whom he had dated for several years, at her apartment on Linwood Avenue in East New York in the early morning hours of August 22, allegedly stabbing her nine times.
Williams is further accused of dismembering Johnson’s body and stowing the remains in two suitcases, then continuing to live in the apartment for a month, allegedly using towels and cleaning products to obscure the smell of decomposition.
Williams reportedly fled the apartment when building personnel arrived to check on the victim, having not seen her for a while. The building personnel ultimately contacted police, and responding officers found the body.
In a media release, District Attorney Eric Gonzalez said, in part, “While we can’t erase the tragic and cruel death of D’Asia Johnson, we are fully committed to bringing this defendant to justice. I hope that this prosecution brings a measure of solace to D’Asia’s family and friends.”
Williams was arraigned Monday, November 7, on one count of second-degree murder and one count of concealment of a human corpse. He faces up to 25 years to life in prison if convicted as charged.
He remains in custody without bail and his next court appearance is scheduled for January 25, 2023.
