American Canyon police recently announced the arrests of two suspects and the recovery of two stolen vehicles within two hours of each other, according to a department press release.
Around 1 PM on Thursday, November 3, police were notified that a 2006 Chevrolet 4×4 pickup reported stolen out of Antioch had entered city limits. Police caught up with the vehicle along westbound American Canyon Road, near Newell Drive, and conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of American Canyon Road and Silver Oak Trail.
The driver, identified as 61-year-old Hezekiah Griffin of Napa, was arrested on suspicion of felony vehicle theft. He was later released.
Later, shortly before 3 PM, police spotted a 2022 Dodge Challenger that had been reported stolen out of Placerville in the area of Broadway and eastbound American Canyon Road. The officer attempted a traffic stop but the driver did not yield, and a short low-speed pursuit began.
The pursuit ended when the officer used a PIT maneuver to immobilize the vehicle in the area of American Canyon Road and Via Firenze, police said.
The driver, identified as 48-year-old James Hudgens of Sacramento, was arrested on suspicion of felony vehicle theft and felony evasion and booked on $50,000 bail.
