On-Duty SFPD Officers Reportedly Witness Fatal Shooting; Suspect in Custody

San Francisco police have arrested a suspect in a fatal shooting that they say was witnessed by on-duty officers.

According to an SFPD Facebook post, on the morning of Saturday, November 26, officers stationed in the Tenderloin district reportedly witnessed a shooting on the 100 block of Leavenworth Street.

Medics were called to the scene and took the victim, identified as an adult male, to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The victim ultimately did not survive, police said.

Officers soon located the suspect, identified as 28-year-old Joe Walls, on the 300 block of Turk Street. Walls was physically resistant but ultimately taken into custody after Homicide Detail arrived on the scene, police said.

Walls was booked at the San Francisco County jail on suspicion of homicide.
