SAN RAFAEL — Marin County Sheriff’s Office detectives arrested a couple on suspicion of selling narcotics and seized more than four pounds of fentanyl. Their 10-month-old daughter was turned over to relatives while they were in jail.
The father, Hector Rodriguez (22), is suspected of selling narcotics in Marin County for at least several months. Incidentally, Rodriguez was arrested twice in 2019 for possession of cocaine and controlled substances for sale in San Francisco.
Rodriguez, a construction worker, was identified as a suspect by Marin detectives investigating illicit drug sales. A sting operation was set up to buy a large quantity of drugs from him. In a prepared statement the Marin County Sheriff’s Office said. “Rodriguez sold more than half a pound of methamphetamine to an undercover detective.”
The investigation led detectives to their residence on Florida Avenue in Richmond. Rodriguez was arrested at his home on December 2. Detectives also arrested 26-year-old Brenis M. Diaz- Maldonado.
In addition to fentanyl, authorities also seized more than $15,000 and packaging materials typically used for selling drugs.
The couple was booked into Marin County Jail on open charges. Rodriguez is being held in custody in lieu of $500,000 bond. Bond for Maldonado was set at $250,000, and she is no longer in custody at the county jailhouse.
Rodriguez was booked for possession and transportation of controlled substances for sale, and child endangerment. Maldonado was booked on narcotics, conspiracy, and child endangerment charges.
