“On December 27th, at about 6:54 pm, Napa Police Officers responded to a residence on the 2500 block of Laurel Street on a report of a shooting. Officers arrived on scene and immediately located a victim of the shooting. Officers provided first aid to the victim prior to the arrival of medical personnel. Officers spoke with witnesses who reported the shooting was precipitated by two males engaged in a verbal altercation. During the altercation one of the males brandished a firearm and fired in the direction of the other male. Tragically, the gunfire struck the victim who was an uninvolved bystander. The victim was transported to the local trauma hospital and is expected to survive.
Detectives from the Special Enforcement Unit (SEU) quickly developed leads, identified a suspect, and obtained a warrant for the suspect’s arrest.
On December 30th, SEU Detectives located and arrested the suspect in the city of Napa. The suspect, a 22-year-old Napa resident, was subsequently booked at the Napa County Detention Center.
