Man Allegedly Runs Stop Sign in View of Officer, Arrested after Pursuit

A man was recently arrested in Monterey County after allegedly running a stop sign in view of a law enforcement officer and leading police on a pursuit.

In a press release to their Facebook page on January 17, the Salinas Police Department identified 36-year-old Rudolfo Villa as the individual arrested following a police pursuit the previous night.
An officer had attempted to pull Villa over after allegedly witnessing him run a stop sign at high speed on Main Street and noticing several other vehicle code violations. Villa did not stop and a pursuit began, police said.
After a short time, however, Villa ultimately surrendered to police. He was soon thereafter found to be “a wanted felon gang member,” police said.
K-9 Officer Ronin was also brought to the scene, as Villa had allegedly discarded an object from his vehicle window at the onramp to the freeway. The object was found to be a loaded .9mm handgun with the serial number filed off, police said.
Villa was taken into custody on suspicion of felon in possession of a firearm and other charges.
