Roseville man killed in confrontation with police
On Saturday night, 35-year-old Paul Lawson Storey of Roseville was shot and killed during an armed confrontation with police.
According to a press release from the Roseville Police Department, officers were called to a domestic disturbance at a home in the 1600 block of Sierra Gardens drive. Storey was reported to be highly intoxicated and carrying a baseball bat, and had pushed the woman involved. When the officers arrived, he fled the scene on foot through the neighborhood. A witness reported that he was running and holding a gun.
The officers located Storey nearby on Tanglewood Lane and tried to take him into custody, but he began physically resisting. The second officer, fearing for the safety of his partner, shot Storey, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident is under investigation by the Roseville Police Investigations Unit, in cooperation with the Placer County District Attorney’s office, according to the department’s protocol for officer involved shootings.
