Wanted Man Allegedly Caught with Gun and Narcotics After Foot Pursuit

Merced police have announced the recent arrest of a wanted man following a short foot pursuit.
In a media release posted to Facebook, the police department released details of the incident, which occurred on the afternoon of January 5.
Officers from the PD’s Gang Violence Suppression Unit had responded to the area of East 12th Street to arrest a man identified as Charles Jackson, 40, on an outstanding warrant. Jackson allegedly tried to flee on foot but was soon apprehended.
A loaded gun dropped from his waistband during the arrest, and officers found suspected methamphetamine and paraphernalia in his possession, police said.
Jackson was later booked at the Merced County jail on suspicion of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, possession of narcotics, and violation of Post-Release Community Supervision.
