Chico Man Arrested on Suspicion of Elder Abuse, Assault with Deadly Weapon
Chico police have announced the arrest of a local man in relation to an alleged assault and threats.
Neighbors had reported that Kurtus Locke, 38, had been making verbal threats and shooting firearms outside of his residence on Berkeley Lane in Chico. On February 25th, officers received information that Locke had allegedly assaulted an elderly male.
Around 10 PM on February 26th, Chico Police began receiving calls stating Locke was outside of his home yelling threats and shooting firearms. Officers responded to the area and began efforts to take Locke into custody while minimizing the danger of violence.
At approximately 12:45 AM on February 27th, officers received information that Locke was banging on a neighbor’s window just minutes after shooting a firearm. Officers utilized an armored vehicle to approach Locke and ordered him to the ground, to which Locke complied, police said.
Locke was arrested and later booked at the Butte County jail for alleged elder abuse, assault with a deadly weapon, criminal threats, and discharge of a firearm at an occupied residence.
