Napa County Sheriff’s Deputies have arrested Jose Humberto Martinez for grand theft that occurred at a local winery earlier on March 24th. According to reports, Martinez was a former delivery driver at the winery and is suspected of stealing several bottles of wine from the establishment.
The incident came to light when the winery management reported that they were missing several cases of wine, with a total value of several thousand dollars. Upon investigation, it was discovered that the wine had been taken by Martinez, who was no longer employed by the winery.
When questioned by the authorities, Martinez claimed that he had taken the wine as a way to get his final paycheck from his former job. However, this claim was not substantiated, and Martinez was taken into custody on suspicion of grand theft, taking a vehicle without consent, and receiving stolen property.
The wine and the van used to transport the stolen goods were released to the proper owners. The authorities have reminded the public that theft is a serious crime that can have severe consequences, including arrest and prosecution. They have also encouraged businesses to remain vigilant and take steps to protect their property.
