Tracy Police Arrest Man on Suspicion of Attempted Murder
A San Joaquin County man has reportedly been arrested in connection to an attempted murder in Tracy.
According to a press release by the Tracy Police Department issued the morning of Thursday, April 13, a stabbing incident that occurred on Monday, April 10, on the 2800 block of Cabrillo Drive. The Tracy Police Department responded to the scene at around 9:45 AM and found the victim suffering from multiple stab wounds.
According to witnesses present at the scene, the suspect had fled before officers arrived. Witnesses were able to provide a description of the suspect and possible places where he could be located. The suspect was soon identified as Joriel Francia, a 26-year-old resident of Tracy.
The following morning, on Tuesday, April 11. Francia was located and arrested without further incident at around 7:10 AM. He was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and booked at the San Joaquin County jail.
The victim has been transported to a local hospital where they are receiving treatment for their injuries. Their condition is currently listed as critical but stable, police said.
The Tracy Police Department has stated that the incident did not pose a threat to the community as it was believed to be an isolated event due to the relationship between the suspect and the victim. However, the investigation is still ongoing by the General Investigations Unit.
Authorities have not disclosed the nature of the relationship between the suspect and the victim.
