Suspect Arrested in Connection to Theft from San Mateo Ulta Store; Second Suspect at Large
The San Mateo Police Department has made progress in the investigation of a theft that occurred at Ulta Beauty, resulting in the arrest of one suspect on suspicion of first-degree burglary. A second suspect remains outstanding.
According to a department press release, the incident took place on May 19, and involved the theft of merchandise worth approximately $1,245.
On the evening of May 19, at around 7:44 p.m., a male and a female suspect entered the Ulta Salon and allegedly concealed various items in a shoulder bag and a purse. When questioned by the store’s general manager about the items, the female suspect allegedly ignored the inquiry and proceeded to leave the store without paying. The suspects then departed in a black Kia that was parked near the store.
Following an investigation, SMPD officers identified the female suspect as 31-year-old Rachel Ameperosa. On May 30, officers from the Fremont Police Department located the suspect vehicle in the parking lot of an Ulta Beauty store in Fremont. Ameperosa was apprehended, along with two males who were present in the vehicle. After reviewing photographs, SMPD officers confirmed that the males were not connected to the theft case at the San Mateo Ulta Beauty store.
Rachel Ameperosa was arrested by the Fremont Police Department officers and subsequently booked into San Mateo County jail on suspicion of first-degree burglary related to the theft at Ulta Beauty. The male suspect involved in the incident remains at large, and an arrest warrant is pending.
