32-year-old Oxnard resident Jessica Valadez became the subject of an investigation conducted by the Ventura County Fentanyl and Overdose Crimes Units (VCFOCUS) in early May as detectives received credible information regarding her involvement in the illicit sales of Oxycodone pills throughout Ventura County.
According to Ventura County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Sgt. Robert Davidson, she was reportedly “selling counterfeit pills masquerading as Oxycodone, which were colored light blue and imprinted with the marking ‘M 30’.“
Further investigation indicated that the pills Valadez was purveying through street sales were fraudulent and contained the dangerous substance Fentanyl.
With that evidence in hand, a search warrant was obtained for Valadez’s residence and vehicle. On May 26, 2023, at approximately 8:10 PM, VCFOCUS investigators apprehended Valadez as she entered the parking lot situated in the 2000 block of North Rose Avenue. As she was taken into custody, the search warrant was executed, leading to the discovery and seizure seizure of 309 counterfeit Oxycodone pills. The estimated street value of these pills ranges from ten to fifteen dollars per pill, amounting to a total minimum street value of $3,090.00.
Valadez was promptly arrested and subsequently booked into the Ventura County Jail. Her charges include violations of the California Health and Safety Code sections 11351(a) (possession of a controlled substance for sale) and 11352(a) (transportation of a controlled substance).
