Wanted Domestic Violence Suspect Arrested after Standoff with Shasta County Deputies, SWAT

A Shasta County man has been arrested on suspicion of domestic violence following a standoff with local Sheriff’s deputies.
According to a press release by the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office, deputies from the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office were involved in a standoff while attempting to serve an arrest warrant at a residence on the 14000 block of Trinity Mountain Road on the afternoon of Tuesday, June 13, in the community of French Gulch.
The deputies were seeking to apprehend 41-year-old Justin Reeder, who was wanted in connection with an alleged domestic violence incident. As the deputies approached the residence, Reeder retreated inside, refusing to respond to their attempts to establish contact.
Due to the seriousness of the charges against Reeder, and the possibility that he may have been in possession of firearms, the Sheriff’s Office called in members of the SWAT team and crisis negotiators to assist. Negotiators were eventually able to establish communication with Reeder through text messaging, and after some discussion, Reeder agreed to exit the residence and turn himself in.
Following his surrender, Reeder was taken into custody without further incident and later booked at the Shasta County jail on suspicion of exhibiting a deadly weapon, assault with a deadly weapon, arson, and corporal injury of a spouse/cohabitant.
It was unclear at press time whether Reeder had retained an attorney.
The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office has not released any further details regarding the specifics of the incident or the circumstances leading up to Reeder’s arrest. The case remains under investigation, and additional information may be released as it becomes available.
