On April 5th, 2023, an alarming incident unfolded in the 3000 Block of Browns Valley Road when Napa Police Officers responded to a report of shots fired. The ensuing investigation revealed that two victims, including a juvenile, were targeted and shot as they fled in their vehicle. The passenger sustained a leg wound, while the driver was grazed in the head. Both victims received immediate medical attention, and their injuries were treated.

Surveillance footage captured at the nearby apartment complex shed light on the shocking event. The footage showed a black SUV pulling up near the victims’ parked vehicle. As the victims tried to escape, the occupants of the SUV unleashed multiple rounds, directly targeting the victim’s vehicle.

The Napa Police Special Enforcement Unit (SEU) promptly initiated an extensive investigation into the incident. Both individuals are known members of the notorious Sureño gang, with a history of criminal activities.

Taking decisive action, on June 15th, 2023, the Napa Police Department’s SWAT Teams, in collaboration with the Napa Sheriff’s Office, supported the SEU and Detectives in executing a search warrant at Pedro Garcia’s residence. The operation proved successful as both Garcia and Fernandez were apprehended without incident. Arrest warrants had been secured during the investigation, providing the legal basis for their arrest.

Following their arrest, Pedro Garcia and Cesar Fernandez were promptly booked into the Napa County Detention Facility. They are facing a multitude of serious felony charges, including attempted murder (664/187PC), assault with a firearm (245(b) PC), discharging a firearm causing great bodily harm or injury (12022.53(d) PC), shooting at an occupied vehicle (246 PC), child endangerment (273a(a) PC), street terrorism (186.22(a)), criminal street gang enhancement (186.22(b)(1) PC), and gang conspiracy (182.5 PC).
