The Fresno Police Department has announced the arrest of the primary suspect in a recent fatal shooting.

According to a press release, the suspect — identified as 28-year-old Kelon White — had been wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of Silvano Villa-Fierro, 46. White turned himself in at the Fresno County jail on Thursday, July 20.

The homicide occurred shortly after 4 PM on Sunday, July 16. Central officers responded to a report of a gunshot victim on the 1800 Block of West Clinton Avenue and found Villa-Fierro suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers, along with EMS personnel, immediately administered life-saving efforts and rushed him to CRMC. Villa-Fierro ultimately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

Homicide detectives soon identified Kelon White as the suspect allegedly responsible for the fatal shooting. According to police reports, White and the victim were involved in a physical altercation inside an apartment when White allegedly fired the deadly shot. Following the incident, White fled the scene, prompting a search and a subsequent warrant for his arrest.

During his interview with homicide detectives, White reportedly faced several questions regarding the incident and was subsequently booked on his warrant. In addition to murder charges, White also reportedly faces multiple weapons-related charges.

While an arrest has been made, the Fresno Police Department encourages anyone with additional information related to the case to come forward and contact their office to assist in the ongoing investigation.
