Probation Search Leads to Two Arrests on Various Charges in Sonoma County

“During July 2023, the Santa Rosa Police Department’s Narcotics Team began an investigation into a person involved in the distribution of cocaine in Santa Rosa. Narcotics Detectives identified the involved person to be 32-year-old Santa Rosa resident, Jureath Som. Detectives learned Jureath was on Sonoma County probation and terms of his probation included he must submit to warrantless search and seizure of his person, residence, property, and vehicles.
On 08/02/23, at approximately 1200 hours, Detectives from Narcotics and Property Crimes Teams, along with patrol officers and Downtown Enforcement Team officers, responded to the 400 block of Shepp Ct to conduct a probation search at at Jureath’s residence. Detectives walked to the residence and detained a person on the side of the garage. Detectives then conducted knock/notice at the side door of the garage and the front door of the residence. Juror Som exited front door of the residence and was detained without incident. Detectives observed Jureath attempt to run into the main part of the house from his bedroom in the garage, however, he then returned to his bedroom and out of view. Detectives yelled several commands over the course of 15 or 20 minutes for Jureath to exit the residence pursuant to a probation search. After approximately 20 minutes, Jureath exited the side door of the garage and was detained without incident.
Detectives learned Jureath and Juror shared the bedroom in the garage. A probation search was conducted in their bedroom and detectives located approximately 2 ounces of suspected cocaine, a loaded .380 caliber semi-automatic handgun, packaging materials, a digital scale, and approximately $3,200.00 in US currency. Both Juror and Jureath are convicted felons.
Jureath was arrested and booked into the Sonoma County Jail for the following violations:
11351 H&S – Possession of a Narcotic for Sale
11370.1 H&S – Armed while Dealing Drugs
29800 PC – Felon in Possession of a Firearm
148 PC – Resisting Arrest
1203.2 C – Violation of Probation
182 PC – Conspiracy
Juror was arrested and booked into the Sonoma County Jail for the following violations:
11351 H&S – Possession of a Narcotic for Sale
11370.1 H&S – Armed while Dealing Drugs
182 PC – Conspiracy
Additional charges will be added to Juror as detectives were not aware of his felon status at the time of this incident.”
