Cross-City Crime Spree Suspect Apprehended: Commercial Burglaries Lead to Arrest

“At the beginning of August 2023, several commercial burglaries occurred within the City of Rialto. The suspect targeted cash boxes and safes stealing money totaling over $20,000.
During the course of the investigation, the Rialto Police Department became aware the Riverside Police Department was also investigating a series of commercial burglaries that occurred in the City of Riverside during July 2023 with similar characteristics matching the Rialto burglaries. Riverside Police Department identified 37-year-old, Michael Sturm, resident of the City of Redlands, as the suspect.
Upon further investigation, Sturm was found to be responsible for three commercial burglaries that occurred in the City of Rialto in August 2023.
On 08/16/2023, the Colton Police Department located Sturm’s vehicle in the City of Colton. Rialto Police Detectives responded and served a search warrant at the location and took Sturm into custody for PC 459–Burglary.
Sturm was later booked at the Robert Pressley Detention Center referencing the burglaries he committed in the City of Riverside.
Sturm was later charged with the commercial burglaries he committed in the City of Rialto and was booked into the West Valley Detention Center for violation of PC 459-Burglary.”
