Armed Robbery in Riverside County’s Green Acres Leads to Swift Apprehension of Suspects

“On Wednesday, September 27, 2023, about 1:47 a.m., Perris Station deputies responded to the 33000 block of East Highway 74, in the unincorporated area of Riverside County known as Green Acres, regarding an armed robbery that just occurred at a local convenience store. The victim advised that two black male adults, in their 20’s, wearing dark clothing, brandished a handgun and demanded money from the till. The suspects fled with the money in a white Toyota Corolla, which was occupied by additional subjects. Deputies began searching the area for the suspect vehicle and located it parked near Trumble Road and Highway 74, in Romoland. Deputies conducted a high risk enforcement stop and detained four occupants without incident.
The Perris Station Robbery Burglary Suppression Team (RBST) were called in and assumed the investigation. Two of the occupants were positively identified and all four were brought to the Perris Station for interviews. The suspect vehicle was processed and evidence of the crime was recovered from inside the vehicle including an unregistered Polymer 80 handgun and over $200 cash. After conducting interviews with the detained subjects, RBST arrested Ruben Garcia, a 19-year-old resident of Hemet, Detrell Woods, 21-year-old resident of Los Angeles, and Antonio Olivares JR., 28-year- resident of Los Angeles for robbery and conspiracy and were booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center without incident. The fourth subject was released. No other suspects were involved in the robbery.
