Multi-Agency Task Force Makes Gun Arrest After Vehicle Stop

“Yesterday, a CHP officer stopped a Mercedes sedan for having its front side windows tinted and other equipment violations. Shortly after the stop, CHP K9 Officer “Rae”, S.C.A.R.E. (a multiagency task force consisting of CHP, Watsonville PD, Santa Cruz County SO, DMV investigations, and the Santa Cruz District Attorney’s Office) and the Santa Cruz Anti-Crime Team arrived on scene and assisted.

The Santa Cruz Anti-Crime Team determined both occupants of the Mercedes were on probation. The Santa Cruz Anti-Crime Team conducted a search on the vehicle and located a loaded firearm and a retractable baton—violations of their probation terms.

Both occupants were arrested.”
