Man Arrested on Litany of Charges Including Attempted Murder, Hit-and-Run, DUI

On Thursday, October 5th, at about 7:58 PM Healdsburg Police Dispatch received a call about a possible attempted kidnapping of two 12-year-old females at Giorgi Park. Officers arrived within 3 minutes. Upon Officers’ arrival they were met by adult family members of the 12-year-olds who had also just arrived on scene. The family members pointed out a male in a vehicle, who was now stopped on University St. in front of Giorgi Park. Officers contacted the male in the vehicle and ordered him to step out of the vehicle. Instead, the male fled southbound on University St. at a high rate of speed striking one of the adult family members with his vehicle as he fled from police. Officers pursued the suspect until he collided into an occupied residence in the 400 block of Mason St. After crashing, the suspect fled on foot.
Assistance was requested from allied agencies. Personnel from the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office, CHP, Petaluma Police, and Healdsburg Fire responded to assist. At about 8:27 PM, the suspect was captured at the corner of Mason and Fitch St.
The suspect was taken to a local hospital pending medical clearance prior to being booked at Sonoma County Jail. Identification of the suspect is currently pending positive confirmation. The family member who was struck by the suspect’s vehicle received treatment at a local hospital. No one inside the residence at the time of the collision was injured.
At this time, Healdsburg Police do not believe there are any outstanding suspects. Further details on this incident are pending further investigation.

The suspect in this incident has been identified as 24 year old Luis Flores Gaspar from Windsor. He has been booked into Sonoma County Jail on Charges including attempted kidnapping, attempted murder, felony DUI, felony hit and run, and felony evasion.
