BERKELEY — An armed couple nodding out inside a stolen sports car was arrested near the Oakland border. Berkeley officers also confiscated a loaded assault rifle and burglary tools.
Patrol officers were on the lookout for the stolen car. Officers attempted to stop it previously, but the driver got away. Officers spotted the car again on October 15. This time it was parked on 62nd Street in South Berkeley.
The couple was ordered out of the car. They were identified as Rodolfo Cerritos, 32, of Oakland, and Brittany M. Cullison, 34, a resident of San Jose.
Officers found the burglary tools and the concealed assault rifle when the vehicle was searched Illicit drug paraphernalia was also found.
Cerritos was placed under arrest at 3:47 a.m., followed by Cullison at 4:01 a.m. Both were booked into Alameda County Santa Rita Jail. Cerritos is ineligible for release on bond because he is on supervised parole. Cullison is being held in custody in lieu of $242,500 bond.
Cerritos faces multiple charges including vehicle theft and possession of a firearm by a felon. His prior convictions include second-degree robbery involving use of a firearm in 2018.
His companion, Cullison faces charges including possession of a firearm by a felon. Cullison has a prior conviction for possession of a controlled substance in 2013. In addition, she has prior arrests for assault, battery, and mayhem, among other offenses.
