Calaveras County: Four Arrested Following Theft-in-Progress Call at Marijuana Farm
The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office recently arrested four individuals after responding to a call of a theft-in-progress at a legal marijuana cultivation site.
According to a press release by the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office, law enforcement deputies responded to a reported theft in progress on the 8000 block of West Murray Creek Road in Mountain Ranch on the night of October 29. The reporting individual indicated the presence of at least one male on the property, which was legally permitted for marijuana cultivation, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Upon arrival, deputies established a perimeter around the property with assistance from California Highway Patrol Officers, and requested aerial support from the Stanislas County Sheriff’s Office. K-9 Deputy Titan was brought in to assist in searching for the suspect within the fenced grow area. Titan located and apprehended one individual, identified as Carlos Osuna (40) near a portion of the recently cut fence. Osuna was taken into custody without incident.
Deputies continued to search the property and reportedly came across two additional suspects. One of the suspects, identified as 37-year-old Mark Arias Flores, was found hiding in dense foliage. After Arias Flores allegedly refused to follow deputies’ orders, he was subdued by K-9 Officer Titan. Arias Floras was provided with first-aid treatment due to a bite from Titan and placed under arrest.
A third individual, identified as 59-year-old Tyrone Castaldi from Anderson, was found nearby and taken into custody without incident.
The Stanislas County Sheriff’s Office deployed forward-looking infrared technology during the search, leading to the discovery of another suspect identified as 45-year-old Frank Jenner, who was reportedly found hiding in a tree. Jenner was taken into custody without further incident.
All suspects were booked at the county jail and and face multiple charges, including grand theft, conspiracy, and drug-related offenses. It was unclear at press time whether any of the four individuals had retained an attorney.
