At 2:22 pm today, law enforcement received a call reporting two juveniles attempting to trespass onto the grounds of Sylvan Middle School, with one of them allegedly possessing an object resembling a gun in their pocket. Swift action was taken, prompting a precautionary shelter-in-place protocol as officers promptly arrived on the scene to investigate.
The responding officers initiated a thorough search for the two individuals, who were eventually located off-campus. It was determined that they had discarded an item later identified as a cap gun at a nearby establishment.
The incident prompted a commendation to an alert passerby whose timely notification allowed law enforcement to swiftly address the situation. The precautionary shelter-in-place protocol was lifted once it was confirmed that there was no imminent threat to the safety of students, staff, or parents.
