Hollister: Juvenile Arrested in Connection with Shooting on Westside Boulevard

Police have announced the arrest of a juvenile suspect in connection with a shooting on Westside Boulevard in Hollister.

According to a press release by the Hollister Police Department, officers responded to the 800 block of Westside Boulevard to investigate a report of a shooting late on the afternoon of December 4. Police allege that a silver vehicle had pulled up next to another vehicle, and someone inside the first vehicle fired multiple rounds from a handgun into the targeted vehicle. There were no major injuries reported.

Following the incident, an officer conducted a follow-up investigation using the city’s newly installed FLOCK cameras and an Automated License Plate Reader system. These tools allowed law enforcement to identify the specific vehicle involved in the shooting.

Soon after identifying the suspect vehicle, patrol officers, with the assistance of the Watsonville Police Department and Santa Cruz Probation, arrested a juvenile suspect in Watsonville. The minor was transported back to San Benito County for booking at the Youth Services Center.

On December 6th, officers returned to Watsonville with a search warrant for a residence in unincorporated Watsonville. With the assistance of the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect vehicle from the shooting was located and seized as evidence.

While the shooting was initially believed to have been possibly gang-related, no new information has been provided on that front.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information relevant to the case is encouraged to reach out to the Hollister Police Department at 831-636-4331. Those who prefer to remain anonymous can contact WeTip at 800-78-CRIME.
