A man assaulted in the Diablo Highlands neighborhood was taken to a hospital for medical treatment. The suspect is the victim’s son, and he was arrested approximately one mile away from the family’s residence.
A domestic disturbance was reported January 20 at 2:18 p.m. Danville officers responded to a house on Glascow Circle. They learned that the victim was assaulted with a deadly weapon, and that his assailant fled from the scene.
A warrant was issued for the arrest of 24-year-old Kevin Wu, who evaded police searching for him all night long. Officers searched Glascow Circle and nearby streets, but they were unable to find the suspect until the following morning.
Residents in the area reported seeing suspicious activity, which helped police find Xu. Danville police said in a prepared statement. “On January 11 at 6:38 a.m., officers located Mr. Wu on Grassland Court.”
The Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office assisted Danville PD. A K-9 unit and an aerial drone were deployed during a search of the neighborhood. Police found Wu who was hiding inside a recycling bin before he attempted to run away from them.
A perimeter set up in the area enabled police to surround him. Danville officers finally arrested Wu at 8:39 a.m. Wu was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. He was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and for resisting arrest.
Wu remains in custody in lieu of $30,000 bond, pending a review of charges by the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office. He reportedly has had prior violent incidents in the neighborhood.
