Shasta County Authorities Search for Wanted Suspect Who Allegedly Shot at Surveillance Drone

The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a wanted suspect who eluded authorities after allegedly shooting a drone being used to conduct surveillance on him.
On the morning of Thursday, February 1, the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office surveilled a wanted suspect — identified as Anthony Lynne Esquaville, 39 — in the area of Desrch Road and Colley Lane, according to a law enforcement press release.
At one point, Esquaville allegedly fired gunshots at, and struck, an unmanned aerial vehicle being used in the operation. Additional deputies and Sheriff’s Office SWAT personnel responded to the scene to search for Esquaville. Authorities also issued a Code Red alert, closing down Dersch Road between State Route 44 and Ash Creek Road, to protect area residents.
Despite extensive search efforts by authorities, Esquaville was not located. The shelter-in-place advisory was lifted soon thereafter.
Esquaville currently remains at large. He is described as standing approximately 5-foot-6 and weighing about 160 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes. He is wanted for multiple alleged felonies including assault with a deadly weapon and criminal threats, authorities said.
Residents are urged to remain vigilant and call 9-1-1 if they see Esquaville. He is considered armed and dangerous and is not to be approached.
