Handbag Heist at Napa Kate Spade Store Leads to Arrests After High-Speed Pursuit

“Earlier today, law enforcement agencies in Napa successfully apprehended suspects involved in a significant theft of handbags at the Kate Spade store located within the Napa Factory Outlets. Due to the swift and coordinated efforts of all agencies involved, arrests were made and stolen property was recovered.
On February 3rd, 2024, at approximately 2:34 PM, was reported to Napa Dispatch by an employee of the store. It was reported that two males suspects removed an entire wall of purses from the store. The suspects were later identified as Raymond Albert RODRIGUEZ, 12/11/93, and Jaden James SMITH, 1/17/01.
The suspects fled the scene in a white 4-door BMW sedan with a paper temporary plate, heading southbound on SR29. An American Canyon Police Department Sergeant located the suspect vehicle traveling southbound on SR29 at Airport Road. The driver of the suspect vehicle immediately fled on the shoulder of the road and ACPD units pursued the suspect vehicle through the city, maintaining visual contact while prioritizing public safety.
During the pursuit, an ACPD Officer successfully deployed stop sticks, allowing officers to continue the pursuit. The pursuit was ultimately terminated near the intersection of Hwy 37 as Officers lost visual contact with the suspect vehicle. A short time later the vehicle was located in the parking lot of Six Flags off Fairgrounds Drive.
With the aid of video surveillance and collaboration with Vallejo PD, both suspects were identified and detained within the premises of Six Flags. RODRIGUEZ and SMITH were booked at the Napa County Detention Center for charges related to the theft and pursuit.
