Armed Break-in and Arson in Truckee Leads to Arrest of Suspect in Regional Manhunt

“Today around 12:35PM, Truckee Police Officers responded to the Tahoe Donner subdivision regarding a report of an armed suspect attempting to gain entry into an occupied residence. All Truckee Police units responded along with resources from the California Highway Patrol. Upon their arrival, officers observed the residence was on fire and learned the suspect had fled the scene. Law enforcement soon discovered multiple shots had been fired during the incident and quickly located several uninjured victims inside the residence. The fire was quickly extinguished without threatening any additional structures.
An investigation revealed the suspect was known to the victims, and a regional manhunt was soon initiated for Scott Wade, 41 of Orangevale, California.
The Placer County Sheriff’s Office soon located the suspect vehicle in the Clipper Gap area of Interstate 80. Wade was taken into custody without further incident and later booked for attempted murder, burglary, arson to an inhabited dwelling, and numerous other firearm related charges. Wade currently resides at the Wayne Brown Correctional Facility in Nevada City and will be held without bail.
